Mantis

All.

I forgot to mention my fishing buddy (conventional) had his swimbait attacked by the treacherous Mantis Shrimp.

Check out the shrimp on Youtube if you are unfamiliar with this predator.

DO NOT TOUCH!

Nasty...Nasty little buggers! They cut, they sting, and leave you with an infection if they can.

Where did he find that huge “model?” The only ones that grow that big that I know of are in the Cook Islands, and in the Ala-wai Canal on Oahu.

If they are around do not wade barefoot, or mess with “the business end” of them - their mandibles fire out at astonishing speed which; coupled with a forward burst of speed from their large tails; generate the impact force of a .22 caliber bullet. Seen one split a crab twice his size in half with a single strike - game over!

Kim,

Sorry for the late reply.

He caught the mantis off the LB breakwall.
