Belmont Shores 06/05

At 7:30 this morning I walked out to wade a choppy, cold Belmont shores, dressed for summer of course, but wearing waders and my Rayguard boots and shin guards – which was necessary as I again stepped on couple small rays in the shallows. I was still cold and could never quite get over being chilled, especially discovering a leak in my waders that flooded both legs. So I only put in about 2 hours as the bite was mostly slow. Did manage to catch a smattering of YFC/pancakes/sandbass from 8 to 13”, which was interesting because I have never caught bass this far south in the LBC before (usually get them around Cherry beach).

I was planning on leaving after going up to use the restroom, but then decided I had a few more casts in me and went down and caught this guy. Great battle on the 6-weight as I “felt” he wasn’t hooked solid, so played him gingerly.

Good stuff, when you get stung by a ray while wearing waders do the stingers penetrate the waders.

@562FLY my guess is yes since these Rayguard products are made from bulletproof vest material and the company still refuses to "guarantee" protection
