HH 11-28-18

Went with Kenny to HH on Wednesday morning, we had to leave at 10:30 because Kenny had an appointment to make. I got a sand bass on immediately as I left the launch pad but it came off right at the kayak. Then nothing for an hour, the wind was blowing against the tide and it seemed that the water was flowing in two directions. There were eddies all around the bridge. I could feel different pressure on the files as they were being swirled around so I knew I was not getting to the bottom. I switched flies, increased my speed, and caught two Mac's and another came unbuttoned. Before leaving, I switched back to my favorite brown and orange fly and went back to the bridge. By now the tide was sweeping in all the same direction, the fly was flowing with me almost straight down and I knew I was in the zone. Right at 10:30 I got hit hard by an 8' Calico just as Ken was heading to the docks. I quickly cast back in and picked up three more Spotties. They hit so hard the rod tip would splash against the water. Then I had to peddle as fast as I could to catch up with Ken so he wouldn't leave without me.
